It is a 3-hour emergency rated exit sign, which is the duration specified for the vast majority of UK commercial and public buildings, and features a maximum viewing distance of 25 metres, exceeding the requirements of most standard escape route layouts.

The Blade features self-test functionality, meaning each fitting automatically performs the function and duration tests required by BS 5266 and reports the results via on-board indicators, removing the need for a member of staff to physically initiate every test.
