What is a fire rated downlight and why is it needed?
A fire rated downlight is a recessed fitting that has been tested to maintain the fire resistance of the ceiling it sits in for a specified period of time, typically 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Cutting holes in a ceiling for downlights can compromise the ceiling's ability to slow the spread of fire between floors, so fire rated fittings are designed to seal that gap and protect occupants for long enough to evacuate.
What are the key specifications of the Core downlight?
The Core is a 6W LED downlight delivering around 600 lumens at a 60-degree beam angle, with a switchable colour temperature of 3000K or 4000K selectable behind the bezel. It is fire rated for 30, 60 and 90 minute solid and I-joist ceilings, IP65 rated on the front and IP54 on the back, and uses a quick push-fit connector block for fast installation. The shallow 53mm depth allows it to fit into restricted ceiling voids, and the integrated driver is mains dimmable.
What bezel options are available for the Core?
Your Lights' Core downlight features an easy click-on bezel system with finishes available in white, polished chrome, brushed chrome and black. The bezel can be swapped on site without disturbing the fitting itself, making it a flexible choice for projects where the interior finish is specified late or may be updated as part of a future refurbishment. The downlight uses a 70mm cut-out and comes with a 5-year warranty.
